Google Docs

Google Docs is a word processor that can be used to write stories, reports, poems, letters, etc. Google Docs saves automatically.  Google Docs can be shared with others, so students can work together on the same page


How to find Google Docs:
  • From Google Drive:  click NEW, then click Google Docs
  • www.docs.google.com
  • If you are on a Chromebook, just click on the Docs icon on the shelf or in the apps
  • login: studentid@gcloud.tisd.org
  • password: your computer password
Parts of Google Docs
Menu: The menu contains words that allow you to change your document.
Button Menu: The Button Menu contains small images that you can use to change the information on the document. There are also commands like "Print", "Undo", "Redo", and the Format painter.
Star: The Star icon allows you to easily locate a document in your drive. It will appear in the Starred list in Drive.
Move to: the Folder icon lets you organize where your document is located in your Drive.
Comments: Let's the reader make comments about the text on the document.
Share: This allows you share your document with others. You can give them edit or view rights.

Google Doc Activities to help you practice: Click on "View" under the name of the activity and then make a copy.
